Obituary for Maxine E. Neal (Ferland)
Millinocket – Maxine E. Neal, 94, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018 at a Millinocket hospital. She was born December 10, 1923 in Millinocket, the daughter of George A. and Mary O. (Rachon) Ferland.
Maxine grew up in Millinocket, and attended Stearns High School. She was a communicant of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. Maxine was a hard worker, and enjoyed many years of working, first for her brother, Melvin, at Ferland’s Jewelers, and then at Harris’ Bakery, a local flower shop, many years at Steeve’s Hardware, and finally at Furniture, after which she retired. Maxine also enjoyed cooking, as well as playing Bingo and cards with her her friends. She was very proud of her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Maxine is survived by four children, Beverly LaPlante, Joel Neal and his wife Ella, Noreen McFalls, Jeffrey Neal and his wife Linda, all of Millinocket; twelve grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a special granddaughter and caregiver, Rona Heher; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Maxine was predeceased by her husband, Harvey Neal, Jr., with whom she shared 71 years of marriage, and also by a son, Keith Neal, three brothers, George, Melvin, and Wayne Ferland, a sister Carleen Buchanan, two sons in law, Paul LaPlante and Gary McFalls.
Maxine will be buried with her husband at the Millinocket Cemetery.
