Obituary for Abigail Fiske

Abigail Fiske
Millinocket – Abigail K. Fiske, 19, was taken unexpectedly on Saturday, May 27, 2017. She was born September 13, 1997 in Bangor, the daughter of Thomas D. and Rachel (Leet) Fiske.
Abby grew up in Millinocket, and was a graduate of Stearns High School, class of 2015. Growing up, she was always involved in sports, playing Field Hockey, her favorite sport, all 4 years of high school, and softball and basketball during part of her high school years. Abby had a zest for life, a wonderful sense of humor, and was happiest when she was hanging out with her friends, enjoying most any outdoor activity. She recently completed her second year of study in the Occupational Therapy program at Husson University, where she earned Dean’s List honors her first semester. Dissatisfied with that, she earned President’s List honors, with a 3.9 GPA, the remainder of her time there. Abby will be remembered as a person who would not accept “no” as an answer to something she wanted to accomplish. Very recently she purchased her first 4 wheel drive truck, and she was looking forward to fixing it up “her” way, and taking it into the woods on rides, hunting, fishing, and not getting stuck. She spent her summers working at her grandmother’s restaurant in Millinocket, some might say running her grandmother’s restaurant, where she excelled in developing her friendly personality. She had a way of making down to earth be glamorous. Abby had an infectious smile that endeared her to everyone she met, and her impact on the lives of those who knew her will not be forgotten. She was an exceptional person in every way.
Abby is survived by her parents, Thomas Fiske and his wife Jen of Lincoln, and Rachel Cyr and her husband Adam of Millinocket; five siblings Thomas, Jr. Elizabeth, Emily, Jude, and Gabriel; paternal grandparents, Linda Oliver and her husband Terry of Winn, maternal grandparents Tom and Ruth Leet of Millinocket; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, too numerous to list. Abby will also be missed by her boyfriend of 2 years, Trevor Sutherland. She was predeceased by her paternal grandfather, John Fiske.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Thursday, June 1 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack Street, Millinocket. Funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Friday, June 2 at St. Martin of Tours Church, 19 Colby Street, Millinocket. Abby will then be laid to rest beside her grandfather at the East Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Abby may be sent to the Abigail K. Fiske Memorial Scholarship, C/O Stearns High School, 199 State Street, Millinocket, ME 04462, Attn. Tammy McLaughlin, or to the Katahdin Area Support Group, P.O. Box 374, Millinocket, ME 04462.
